Practically every writer that creates hubs, posts blogs, or writes for other freelance writing websites, uses Googe Adsense. They don’t necessarily know how it works, or why, but sticking those little ads alongside anything written online has become the number one thing to do. You will need to know what your Google stats are, if you’re going to start trying to examine them, as suggested here.
Before we touch on that point, here’s a few words for those who don’t know about Google AdSense. Of course, you can always learn more about earning with AdSense by visiting their site, but the basics go a little something like this:
Google AdSense is a Google run and operated ad revenue program that is built around contextual advertising. That means, ads that are directly related to the context of the page are generated along with your writing. When viewers arrive at the page where your writing is located (no matter if it’s a blog, a hub, a web pager, etc…), a number of things happen. You get an opportunity to earn money in multiple ways.
3 Different Kinds of Income
a) Ad Impressions – Get paid for “x” amount of “page views” (when Traffic visits your article page)
b) Ad Clicks – Get paid when someone actually “clicks” on the ads on your article page
c) Ad Sales – Get paid when someone actually “purchases” something as a result of your ads
This is standard Google AdSense information that most people know, or have an ideal about. But just having a vague ideal about how the program works is NOT enough. That accounts for at least 90% of those who sign up and start writing to try and generate Google money! Staying in the dark to your hidden money making opportunities will make you a frustrated writer that writes for pay, BUT can’t seem to really get paid! If you don’t want to do anything more than write your articles and get paid as soon as possible, contextual advertising may not be for you.
There are lots of legitimate writing gigs for frustrated writers who are tired of trying to make money with ad revenue. Howver, if you are truly ready to be a paid writer that receives steady monthly ad revenue from Google, you will have to get better acquainted with how the program works. Assuming that you already have a Google Adsense account, a good place to start learning the ropes is to go to the Googel AdSense website and read the “Getting Started” section. Do this when you have some time to stay and read for a while. Read the “Newbie” forum and start seeing what other frustrated writers like yourself are saying. This is only the beginning, but it’s the BEST place to start!
Where Is My Hidden Google Money?
By now, you may be wondering: “Hey, where is my hidden Google money??? I can only tell you how I came to notice my own unexplained or hidden Google money.
I became aware of it because I run my Google AdSense reports on a daily basis (like you’ll soon be doing). As a relatively new paid writer when it comes to getting paid to write with contextual ads, I tend to watch my ad revenue stats like a hawk! I know the “experts” don’t recommend this, but it’s just so addicting to click over to your Google account and watch the numbers literally change from hour to hour (even if it’s just by a few dollars or cents!)
Anyway, on several occasions I noticed that the total number for my earnings for the day were more than the itemized entries that explained those earnings. For example, I might have 10 pages that earned money for that day, and the amounts each page earned was cited, bringing the grand total to “X” amount of dollars for the day. Well, there are times when that grand total is more than the sum of the itemized entries. This led me to ask: “Where is the extra, unexplained money in my Google stats coming from? Through some additional thought and investigation, I finally concluded this must be the money from my referrals. If you do an analysis of your Google ad revenue stats, and experience the same thing, here are some questions to consider:
Do you write for websites that pay you for referring others, via Google AdSense?
Have you been vagulely, inadvertently, or diligently promoting and referring through a writer’s referral compensation program?
Do you refer other writers and their writing through a writer’s wesbite that encourages referrals?
The Value Of Referral Pay
Chances are, you signed up for Hubpages and other sites that provide you with a referral link to put on your page. Even if you stuck it somewhere and forgot about it, it could be the source of your hidden Google AdSense money. Be sure to read more about earning money from writer referral compensation programs, Here on HubPages, this is one of the 5 Money Making Tips Most Hubbers Forget To Use. Don’t make the same mistake. Read the article and avoid the pitfalls. Maybe you’ll start to find hidden money in your own Google stats.
Whether you are a new writer online, or just new to writing for pay, it is important to recognize the value of referral pay. Chances are, you heard about the website(s) you write for as a result of someone referring you to it. If they were smart and did their homework about writer referral programs, they provided you with their referral link so you could get started writing. With many writer referral compensation programs, you can continue to earn a percentage of EVERYTHING that writer cranks out, from now until forever! Between you, them and the host website promoting their writing, you stand to earn a nice little profit over time. Now – multiply that scenario by more and more writers you refer. The value of referral compensation is starting to look a little better now.
